Project Creation for ProjectWise

A ProjectWise application for controlled project creation from templates, including attributes, an initial stage, user lists, and access rights.

Users

The application is intended for ProjectWise administrators and delegated users who create new projects and need to maintain consistent structures, naming, metadata, and access rules.

This application requires an active ProjectWise login and the permissions needed to create a project work area and its related objects.

Problem

Creating a project in ProjectWise involves several connected tasks. In addition to creating the work area itself, the correct template must be applied, attributes written, user lists prepared, their hierarchy established, and the appropriate access rights assigned.

When performed manually, these steps can vary between projects or remain incomplete. Project Creation combines them into a single controlled process based on configurable profiles and templates.

How the application works

The user selects a project profile and template, enters the project's identifying information, chooses an initial stage, and assigns the relevant project roles. The application then displays a summary of the planned steps and the attributes to be written.

A separate validation can be run before project creation. Once confirmed, the application creates the project work area from the template, writes its metadata, prepares the required user lists and access rights, and optionally creates the initial stage. The result is captured in the operation log and a PDF report.
